Forum Frameworks

The 5% 

What’s that one thing? What you can’t ask your employees, what your peers don’t need to know, and your spouse may not understand. That’s the 5%. As entrepreneurs, it can be difficult to find a peer group where you can share what you’re really going through. In forum, we offer a safe place to share that 5%. Whether it’s positive or negative, personal or professional, we give you the space to get that one thing (or five things!) off your chest. Zero judgement, we’re all going through it…

The Deep Dive

At the end of the day, we only have control over ourselves and our own actions. The Deep Dive helps you to identify what you can change. You will be led through a series of questions to get to the heart of where your responsibility lies and what you can take accountability for. You then explore why this outcome mattered to you and what you wish happened instead. Going through these steps helps develop a greater understanding of each situation, and increases self awareness and understanding.

Share Through Experiences

Coming together and sharing our stories is at the core of what EO is. Being one of the most diverse groups of entrepreneurs in the world, EO has a wealth of resources in our collective experience. But with that diversity comes different backgrounds, ages, and stages of entrepreneurship journeys. To prevent a natural hierarchy from building, we only share stories, not advice. 

No Advice

To build a network where everyone feels they have the safety to share, we have a no-advice policy. Instead, we share what resonates with us, what might resonate with others, and let each member decide on their own takeaways.

Non Disclosure & Safety

What happens in your Forum, stays in your Forum. 100% of everything brought up and disclosed in Forum is privy only to those 6 to 9 people. Sharing outside of this sacred space is prohibited. Your stories will be protected, and you shall protect others’ as well. It’s for this reason that we don’t mix industries inside one forum—to give you the safety to share.

You must be eager to learn and grow. In Asia-Pacific, our average member’s median sales are $4-5M USD with 490 employee’s per member. When this group gets together? While each chapter has its own unique personality, the spirit of EO is the same worldwide. All new chapters must meet and maintain strict minimum requirements set by the organization as well as being approved by the Board. This way, we can ensure that no matter where you apply your EO experience will still hold the same value we strove for at the outset.

Being an entrepreneur is often a solo journey, and that means that sometimes there’s just no one else around who really gets it. As a member of EO, ‘Forum’ offers the unique opportunity to tap into a group of 7-10 fellow business owners who can open your eyes to options and solutions based on their real-life experiences. What is the difference between EO and EOTM?

EO Tokyo Metropolitan (EOTM) is a chapter of EO specifically focused on English-speaking entrepreneurs in Japan, offering a unique platform for both Japanese and international business leaders.

What makes EOTM unique compared to other EO chapters in Japan?

EOTM is distinguished by its focus on English-speaking entrepreneurs and offers access to global perspectives and English-language events. EOTM also acts somewhat as a unique chapter “hub” between English entrepreneurs and the Asian chapters of EO. We are proud to be English-speaking and also diverse!

Who can join EOTM?

EO membership is open to entrepreneurs who are the founder, co-founder, owner, or controlling shareholder of a business with annual revenues of ¥100 million or more.

How can I apply for EOTM membership?

Can I attend events in other chapters?

Yes! As an EO member, you can and are encouraged to attend events hosted by other chapters and participate in global EO events. Imagine your EOTM membership like an all-access pass to the entire world of chapters and nearly 20,000 members.

How does EOTM address language barriers during events and networking activities?

All events are conducted in English, however many of the members are fully bilingual and will be happy to support you when needed. We often bring in interpreters to make it even easier for everyone and to support our diverse membership of non-native English speakers.
